I'm declaring Samburu National Reserve the higlight of the trip. Several close-up leopard sightings, a lot of new bird sightings (like the very cool vulturine guineafowl), and plenty of animals that we never saw anywhere else (oryx, kudu, genets, gerenuks, and Grevy's zebra.
The conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and we saw plenty of them. Other sightings include a herd of Ankole-Watusi longhorn cattle, fighting giraffes, and several different types of starlings.
A chimpanzee sanctuary inside the Ol Pejeta Conservancy that's home to 35 chimpanzees that have been orphaned due to poaching or have been rescued from the black market animal trade.
Had no luck seeing crossings here due to the crowds. But seeing our best view of a black rhino, a cheetah taking down a Thomson's gazelle, and a sunrise hot air balloon ride more than made up for it.
The very first stop of the nearly three week trip. Mt. Kilimanjaro decided to hide the entire time, but we saw hyena cubs, the only (alive) serval cat sighting of the trip, and plenty of elephants.
Just a quick stop in Nairobi on the last day of the trip to kill a few hours before heading to the airport. Just had time to go to the Giraffe Center where you can feed giraffes, and the Karen Blixen House.
